are you stranger to yourself, do you wonder if your thoughts belong to someone else ? all those times you seemed to change. formed opinions, or lost your mind in a rage. was that even really you, or were you walking in another's shoes ?

ใ…ค001. hello! first things first, note that some aspects of this portrayal are mere interpretations of what we have in current canon. i will try to update this as new information is garnered and i develop new perspectives. but, sometimes i will purposefully diverge from canon bc i do not always enjoy hyv's choices. feel free to ask me why i have done certain things because i put deep thought into my characterizations. neuvillette is a special interest of mine & i enjoy talking about him. i like a lot of things and love listening to people talk about their interests! i promise i do not bite! i will only write with people who are 18+. if i reply late to things, it isn't your fault, i simply am busy and sometimes struggle with energy. and if i lose interest i always say something, so don't worry !

  • rule 002

002. if you ship neuvifuri or focalletteโ€” you can like what you like โ€” but please do not talk about them around me, it makes me uncomfortable. this is because they look related + clearly have been placed in narratives to parallel other familial dynamics in the game's latest events ( ayato + ayaka , zhongli + hu tao ). so, that's why, before you ask. my neuvillette is a lesbian : i write with my companion's wriothesley who is a butch lesbian <3. i do not plan ships with anyone else's portrayals. i am a monoshipper for wriolette/neuvithesley, if you don't like my ship that is quite alright, just please do not be rude about it or speak poorly of it in my presence because it's unnecessary. you like what you like, i like what i like. be normal. speaking of which, please do reach out to me for platonic dynamics bc i enjoy writing them a lot! i don't like rushing things inorganically but i don't force slowburns either.

  • rule 003

ใ…ค003.ใ…ค i do not feel great writing with portrayals that don't have thought put into them. please try to match in effort! canon-divergent interps are always welcome, so long as there is depth and deliberate reasoning. no prominent triggers other than preferring spoiler / content warnings for the obviously potentially disturbing content. also, please do not leave me to be the only one fleshing out ideas for our dynamic. again, i enjoy a match in effort, that is all i'd like ! do not leave me to do all of the work ):

  • rule 004

004. to be honest, i only kept this section because it'd look lopsided without it. i don't really look to write nsfw for neuvillette outside of anything with wriothesley. so, skip over this if you want. i would consider myself familiar in writing NSFW. i do not have a preferred versatility. however, i will always prefer there is a dynamic established beforehand. the thing i enjoy about smut is exploring what it could tell you about a character and their mannerisms, as well as the bond shared. i do focus on that within my responses if there is enough substance. as far as kinks go, nothing weird. just use common sense. i'm not too keen on smut oriented rps unless i know you or am already attached to the dynamic. i'm really not a fan of smut with no plot and i don't like writing it with just anyone, because i prefer to keep some tact.

  • rule 005

ใ…ค005.ใ…ค my characters are all trans or NGC . i am very divergent from general gender expectations and i don't tolerate people who have qualms with such sentiments . also if you're one of those weird people who are hard-stuck to a certain character versatility or obsess over the concept of tops vs bottoms without a good reason or explanation, i do not care for you. leave me alone. boo. boring. i also really don't care what your opinion is on my identity headcanons if it's negative, so cry about it. my portrayal of neuvillette is transfem, and i do mainly use she/her pronouns for her. i consider her to be non-binary and / or some form of agender.

  • rule 006

ใ…ค006.ใ…ค hopefully this plethora of standards and boundaries doesn't come off as pretentious! i promise i can prove to be friendly, and i love hearing other people's insights when there's base to their conclusions (: other notes include that i tend to mirror literacy . nothing below semi-lit unless it's a quick rp / banter . at least 1 reply every 3 days. credit to my friend dain for my literate rp layout which i use sometimes, thank you so much !! (: <3 the spotify playlist listed was a gift from my lovely friend kiki, and my rp icons i use are made by me. also, if you're going to talk to me about my interp and try to intercept my ideas or interests, just don't interact with me because i honestly don't gaf. sorry.

if only i could be so grossly incandescent.

๐Ÿš echoing of heels that clave a metallic floor : this rhythm is a declaration of the iudex's presence in of itself. prisoners, visitors, and staff alike find their eyes chasing for her. neuvillette's physique gives no language of sensing it, although there is a phantom pinch at her spine. so far, no one had dared to interrupt her trek to the duke's office โ€” a fortunate outcome.exuberant, blue attire cloaks her figure and silhouettes a mermaid's hide along her ankles. stiff, difficult to make do with , and yet she'd maintain the premise of style for the sake of her status. as someone who has resided along fontaine's waters for millennia upon millennia, her line of work is the only constant that remains. it's evident she honors it. faces fade to memories and points of reference; however, the gavel continues to wait for her at the dew of morning. yet, there is no intimate sentiment to this statement.the relationship between her and her seat in the opera is hollow. it is as much of a void as she interprets herself to be, in comparison to the endless variety of people she places judgement upon. these people face an arbiter only to be released from the claim of sin, or descended to a slum: also known as the fortress of meropide. otherwise, convicts would have faced exile. this collaboration between the prison's warden and court's judge is a bond that upkeeps the foundation of fontaine's current system... ..... without it, the country would keel to a requirement of reformation. even more remarkably, it would shatter the fragile heart of monsieur neuvillette. that is all in theory, though. wriothesley would not leave neuvillette to pick up the pieces by herself, 'nor play "telephone" over something as grave as a severance. there is a knowing look to the iudex's eye as she lines her cane along the steps up to wriothesley's office, approaching him with an envelope in hand. she places it down in front of him, seemingly already torn open by a delicate hand, the seal in perfect tact." wriothesley, i am sorry to disturb you at this hour of evening. but, i believe that it is important for etiquette's sake to disclose that i find your method of initiation dishonorable .... " neuvillette's lips curve into what can only be described as a fluctuating frown. it contrasts the glint in her gaze. her voice carries a feigned edge of irritation, fixated on the other's expression.

โ€• story

truthfully, he was reincarnated from the original dragon of water โ€” first heart conjured by the primordial one having been lost with the dragon's death. this "heart" is a token of the first hydro sovereign's authority : over the primordial sea and the origins of all life. this sovereign was the true original god of life in all of teyvat. however, once the first sovereign fell by unknown means, this "heart" was given to egeria for her to harness a new authority. indeed, the first hydro dragon sovereign's authority was taken. if this revocation was out of malice is unknown, but part of it was in order to suppress the original vital force of the planet. in foresight, egeria commits what is deemed an unspeakable sin by the heavenly principles : conjuring humans out of oceanids.neuvillette did not have a birthright to fontaine, even if it was his predecessor's realm. he dwelled as an outsider long before focalors extended an invitation. a letter was given to him : " you " ... a unique you, a special you, one that he'd quickly derive was from no other than the archon focalors. she'd claim, " i shall leave you a seat with the best view in the greatest theatre " ... little did neuvillette know, he quickly become a performer himself. yet, to this day, he simultaneously finds himself within the human audience โ€” witnessing this human drama.in reality, neuvillette's very beginning was rooted in questions without answers. why is it that he was born in a humanoid vessel, rather than one which would resemble a vishap, or that of the grand sovereigns before her? it is because of this he accepted the role of a judicator. naturally, complexities swiftly arise when different species are to coexist. as he's said before, "โ€œdifferent identities and ways of thinking all contribute to strengthening the barrier between one another. removing it will be no easy feat.โ€ neuvillette was not exempt from this struggle, and neither were others like him. sometime earlier amongst his duties, he would meet a community of a special variant of vishaps : the melusines. these creatures were born from the pearls of elynas' corpse, pierced by the mechnical components of a clockwork meka. it was the melusines who insisted they wished to pursue a life alongside humans, and venture out of the home they'd made of elynas' tattered vessel. so, the iudex would comply โ€” a soft spot carving itself into that allegedly frozen heart of his.but, the chief justice had only been recently appointed. even with focalors' good word, many were skeptical of neuvillette's merit. rumors would weave their way amongst the people : who exactly โ€” no, what, exactly is monsieur neuvillette ? a demon, here to exacerbate the trials, or a familiar of the hydro archon ? ... perhaps, some kind of elemental creature, or as the seven nations gazette concluded, the only male melusine ? while none of these speculations are right on the mora, he never cared to clear such claims. rumors are like a tangled web; debunking one is akin to untangling a small part, but the intricate threads of gossip persist, weaving new tales even as old ones unravel. it would be pointless, and part of him garners quiet amusement towards witnessing such asinine assumptions! yes, the judge is capable of such humor, too...in parallel, he harbors deep sympathy for the melusines. they are very much connected, depicted by both the public's attitude towards both the iudex and melusines, whilst also having been clarified by the duke of meropide himself. it can only be concluded that the hostility which neuvillette once faced was something the melusine would bear, too. initiated physical altercations and verbal assaults were all things they would endure. amongst the group was a melusine named carole, accompanied by an initially reserved companion, vautrin. they were deeply trusted and cherished by neuvillette, yet, perhaps their close proximity and strong will were what tethered to them to such unruly fates. carole's resilience and insistence on integrating was a passion which the iudex admired, and it also inspired him to move forward with settling in fontaine as well.this could not prevent the inspired coup that would leave the community in shambles and imbue a rigorous trial... carole had died amongst the uproar, sacrificing herself in the midst of calamity which was not her own fault. whatever justice would be instilled by the court towards the mobs was not enough for vautrin, and he took matters into his own hands โ€” maroon, crimson, vermillion โ€” every shade of red which one could ever imagine. neuvillette grieved as he remained in his high chair โ€” a regrettable throne as he was to judge one of his closest companions. a great deal of hostility and hatred from vautrin did not atone the ordeal any further. rain engulfed fontaine for many days, afterwards.in his past years serving as the iudex of fontaine, neuvillette has succeeded and failed in a plethora of circumstances โ€” to define him by one happening is a disservice. although, he is aware that the system of fontaine in of itself has one too many flaws ... how compelling, to appoint the hydro sovereign as an ordainer of the people, when he believes to know nothing of humanity himself. for a very long time, he would suffer from fluctuating esteem in his own capabilities. although standing with an unimpeachable presentation โ€” undeniable impartiality, aloofness, and a pledge to keep all at arm's length as to not infringe on his judgements โ€” it never quite felt like enough. like the pale bubbles and lines divide the section of ripples or waves, neuvillette would always feel a rift between himself and humanity. try as he may to reign fair, there were always regrets that would plague him for days to come.an example of such : when neuvillette was faced with an instance which invited a downpour of memories & emotions from what occurred with carole and vautrin. he was swift to take matters into his own hands, perhaps all too much โ€” many wide-eyed, it's rare the iudex involves himself in investigation. the marachausse phantom remains for a reason, after all. he observes the waters and ensures that someone oversees kiara's safety, after receiving a threat letter. it is only after neuvillette acquires more leads that he descends to meropide in order to ensue interrogation. it does not lead to all too much, except wriothesley's assurances: the duke inquires why is it that neuvillette's stepped in for this case, and she confesses it is due to a tragedy which occurred over 400 years ago. wriothesley is well aware of the event, having read into it as he's an avid literate. even if he was not there in person beside neuvillette, what he consoled was precisely what the iudex needed, in the moment.the duke underscored the following : fontanians no longer harbor hostility, and that is depicted through their adoration & admiration both for monsieur neuvillette and the melusines. vautrin had staged his loathing towards neuvillette in hopes it would help to clear his name. neuvillette's relationship with vautrin did not experience such dire and falter in closeness, as a matter of fact, he had done it all for the iudex. with that, he'd look to aid in reforming the prisons ... a bittersweet revelation to be granted, indeed.neuvillette's has a past that involves her struggling with defining justice for himself. part of that flaw is because he has tried to derive it from other's perceptions. however, justice was with him all along ; as focalors notes, true justice is pursuing the human experience โ€” implying that neuvillette's heart was always the essence. "the human experience" was exactly what the iudex had been pursuing the entirety of this time, even if subconsciously. despite being the emblem of " justice " , or " law " , indeed neuvillette has a complex relationship with it , similar to how his own self perceptions are complicated. each court trial in which the verdict is guilty , he feels like it is a loss. once the prophecy unfolded, water indeed crashed and burned through much of the land, though it would falter all due to focalors' and furina's altruistic deceptions.the strike of the guillotine and the fluttering remain of an embroidered hat marked the return of neuvillette's dragon pearl. focalors & furina played a part in shattering the throne, the power of water restored to its original harnesser. great grief engulfs neuvillette as he pondered how lonely furina must have felt, all of these years... that indeed, his intuition was correct, and she was never as shallow as she would display herself. neuvillette had always respected her as his superior, even with the exasperations she would grant him. to be companions side by side for half a millennia, no matter the barriers, was no small feat. there lies a true and close bond โ€” even if furina gated herself similarly or neuvillette knew very little at times, maybe it was the hydro dragon who she was closest to, after all. her departure granted authority back to neuvillette. now that he is a fully fledged dragon, he may walk along the cobbled pavements and bask in the rains of what is his true home. furina is taking a long-deserved rest, and should she ever return, he will welcome her with open arms. he, the people, and the archons shall always regard her as divine for her sacrifices.however, it is now time for neuvillette to take the stage and continue to pursue understanding his own purpose. he will come to realize he is to be the destroyer of present order, and redefine the way of the world : place judgement upon the divine and the foe of humanity. so far, he has been doing so : pardoning fontanians for their pursuit in living freely, and granting ocean which flows within their veins to be true blood.

some of these are light inspirations in terms of personality, while others take from the core concepts of their backstories & how they responded to their treatment. don't take this too seriously, it was mainly for fun.

โ€• character

๐Ÿš blood stains the palms of this sovereign. it is a filth she cannot dispel. Long ago, a prophecy instillted the realm of fontaine with a hysteric that had only conjured a former unease : โ€œthe people will all be dissolved into the waters. and only the Hydro Archon will remain, weeping on her throne.โ€ it is true that every person who hails from fontaine was once riddled with sin ; but, what about our dear iudex? The blood sheโ€™s responsible for is something she stomachs for the sake of maintaining order. There are many verdicts that sheโ€™s posed alongside the oratriceโ€™s approval, which she would consider a failure to her people. beneath her eloquent speech and poised demeanor lies a burden of disappointment. as the symbol of justice, she upholds exacting standards for herself, even when others lean on her as their protector. neuvillette carries a heavy weight of past grievances. despite her best efforts, she has a lack of faith in herself and seeks solace in studying humanity, hoping to grasp her true self. over time, her relationship with her position has evolved, especially in turn of the oratrice's destruction. with that, neuvillette has developed a new sense of what justice is due to her conversations with focalors before her self-execution : justice is the right to exist in this world, and the continuation of that. as a result of this newfound perspective, she couldn't bear to declare her people guilty for merely living on.To neuvillette, existence is like a trove of questions without much answer. it's as though she peers into a mirror, but the reflection she sees remains elusive. neuvillette relies on a mirror that, ultimately, feels one-sided. despite being someone intended to be impartial, neuvillette has many skewed perspectives involving herself. she doesnโ€™t know of many things, including why she possesses her human vessel, or what she is to do with her immortal life. One could claim that sheโ€™s too humble ; however, In her eyes, she poses as a parrot at best and is undeserving of appraisals. At one point, she saw herself to be a mere messenger for the oratrice & morality itself, someone who conveys the guidelines of justice but does not determine them as an authoritative entity: it is furina who dictates the laws, after all. She perceives herself as a husk in comparison to the complexities of humanity โ€” and yet, it is the turmoil of struggling to comprehend her own layers that invites the occasional rainfall in fontaine. Oxymoronic, isnโ€™t it? But, that is precisely what the chief justice is: an enigma. of course, many of her self-verdicts could not be further from the truth. blood, sweat, and tears have all contributed to her being deserving of her position, as the oratrice has agreed with her upon each conclusion, save for tartaglia's case.before the prophecy came true, even with the perceived power she had, neuvillette did not feel in control. while she finds comfort in routine, trials often once felt pre-determined due to the oratrice governing the final word. and with that, she'd asked herself for the longest time : just what is justice, anyway? for the longest time, she would practice what was preached by the guidelines she'd been obligated to follow. yet, there was no satisfaction found. and it is not as if she can turn to the oratrice itself and ask. but, there is a beauty in having the liberty determine what justice is. especially after obtaining ownership of the pearl that was once hers, and leaving matters of "procedural" wrong or right aside. at one point, she could not fathom the concept of moral constructs upholding an integrity greater than preserving life. Of course, this sentiment was eradicated when she came to face with deeds that she found were fairly punishable by death. she didn't want to believe that there could be anything more important to humans than life itself until she witnessed circumstances that projected morality, honor, and love to a greater degree. she comes to learn that a great feat of human relations is self-sacrifice. the iudex is slowly beginning to grasp how fickle morality is when it involves human affairs. intentions, emotions, bonds, and motivations are all complexities that she feels the oratrice could not always properly take into account.it also appears that the judge suffers from alexithymia. she has a gifted intuition revolving around her connection to water ; it aids her in sensing what emotions or intentions swell in peopleโ€™s hearts. Every bout of water emits an overwhelming flux of emotion. Perhaps, that is why she finds haven with the rain and yearns to revel in the skyโ€™s clear jewels. It is a remedy to the hollowness she claims to feel when in the face of humanityโ€™s range of emotions. however, this capability does not give her as much self-clarity as she hopes. Each passing trial, she is the one who categorizes people and pronounces them with a title : โ€œguiltyโ€ or innocentโ€, and yet she cannot manage to come to a ruling about her inner-self. She finds that vanity is the only aspect of her person that she feels can provide certainty within her character. and so she endures the inconveniences of accidentally sitting on her hair or stepping over her own garments, all for the sake of upholding an image that is compatible with her renown title.a frigid exterior (that many would describe as "cold" or "unswayed") masks an individual who values introspection and maintaining the integrity that comes with her societal role. there's a distinct feeling that neuvillette is not from this time. but when duty calls, her words transform into delicate porcelain figurines, each chiseled with meticulous precision. neuvillette is her own unreliable narrator, caught between dual yearnings : to preserve the perceived worthiness of her position, and to find true connection. she exerts subtle contradictions, dispersing a symphony of liabilities within her conversations โ€” tailoring sentences with the knowledge that every word carries the heavy mantle of fontaine's trust. the courtroom, a stage, and her words the performance, she plays into a ballet of neutrality to protect her from the treacherous pitfalls of bias โ€” despite being a dissatisfied performer. it seems that fontaine's cacophony of dramatics has left an impression on her mannerisms. Her publicity leads her to act tentatively. Despite honing the title of a judge, it seems that she operates off the basis of a celebrity or political figure ( e.g. veiling her negative opinions on fonta, because it would disrupt peopleโ€™s perceptions of her due to its popularity). This is not to say that her title as iudex is a hoax, as she works to truly align her heart with what she must do to fulfill her duties. However, in light of that, it is fair to determine that she can also struggle to speak organically or decipher what social conventions are favorable in the moment. This can often be perceived as a malicious motive, or a careless flair of tone-deafness.Nonetheless, through discerning observation, one might deduce that engaging in conversation with her is not as daunting as initial perceptions might suggest. Moreover, with those she is comfortable & close with, she can (surprisingly) come across as having a teasing or sarcastic nature. Even if this does not save her from possessing awkward habits, her intentions are far from ill-mannered ; yet, her struggles with humanity have been perennial. Moreover, that can lead to a struggle to convey herself so that people can effortlessly perceive her for her true self. In reality, she is someone who is open to a variety of opinions and topics. In contrast to being a justice who is tasked to judge, she does not work to be actively judgmental or alienate others. This is a direct opposition to how she treats herself : feeling like an outsider in the nation that she is ironically a staple to. While the harsher criticisms may wound her as they would most people, she will always take it into account and attempt to mend her ways. On the other hand, this can be detrimental when a circumstance determines her character poorly. The iudex often internalizes peopleโ€™s opinions of her. It appears that words cut deep beneath iridescent scales, as she proclaims that humanity garners far more emotional depth than herself. she so much as denies her own folklore ! and yet, is there a basis to any of these things ? ... certanly, the rain is not a red herring?

one can quickly surmise neuvilletteโ€™s presence through the sight of her slender and tall being. beneath her embroidered fabrics are iridescent fins & scales that make a canvas of : neuvilletteโ€™s hips, collarbones, extremities, and joints. there are caudal fins which cloak her chest. although the iudex does not engage in so much physical activity, she possesses a natural frame of muscle โ€” being of draconic origin comes with its perks. ( click here for body hc, i think it's similar to alucard tepes' build ). her legs easily give in at times, all due to experiencing a chronic fatigue (which parallels to myalgic encephalomyelitis). my interpretation of neuvillette is bheel, french, and indigenous. in turn of her origin and where she has grown up, neuvillette expresses a northern french accent (also known as chโ€™ti). it leaves her words more prevalent, and they could potentially be easily muddled to a foreigner who is not familiar with fontaineโ€™s dialect. she possesses faint age lines, although immortalityโ€™s left her aging rate to be the equivalent of molasses, and she is still considered a younger dragon. after all, itโ€™s yet to take away the shiny complexion which neuvillette exerts (as can be seen here. in sickness, the sensitive rhinesphores which crown her head can pale in color. Also, it can be quickly determined that the iudex is one for outward appearance, but there are aesthetic elements which come naturally to her, as a hydro sovereign blessed with many beauties ; an example of this are the pearls embedded into her skin, similar to piercings. theyโ€™re pure physiology, bared in the same fashion as a clam โ€” irreplaceable mock piercings that ornament neuvilletteโ€™s venus dimples, navel, collarbones, and upper lip (click this for example). teeth are retractable, but pay homage to sharp fangs. oh, and she has quite a tongue : ( click me ). last but not least, neuvillette is well-versed in cosmetics. usually, she dons eye makeup in order to accent intense irises that reflect the primordial sea in which sheโ€™d been given rise. otherwise, natural dark circles hollow lower eyelids โ€” so much that she veils them with concealer. her ears can also downturn when certain emotions surface, and neuvilletteโ€™s fingers are webbed a light blue. she harbors a tail that does not make view on her physical form, most of the time. In places of comfort, this tail may reveal itself if she so chooses. speaking of which, her arms are a canvas of blue and cerulean marks of hydro. there is a reason they are cloaked with frilled gloves and eloquent sleeves. they would draw far too much attention. neuvillette's lips grow a purple and blue hue when she is flustered, leaving her pursing her lips as a way to diguise it (although, of course, ineffective).

๐–ฅ” deu

now that focalors has returned the dragonโ€™s pearl, neuvillette harbors boundless capabilities. It was mentioned that neuvillette remained in meropideโ€™s quarters after the potential primordial water outbreak to aid the recovering people. Due to the hydro sovereignโ€™s all-reigning potential, her powers do not only wield offensive & defensive techniques, but also healing properties. Water is an essential aspect of most lives, and because of that, she can regulate the essence of blood ; therefore, she can shift many properties of the body. one thing i will note is that she is not used to utilizing water to sustain lifeforms, so it can grow to drain her. furthermore, this is not the only affinity to hydro which she possesses, because it also grants her the ability to sense the emotions & communications of others. of course, such a high skill ceiling can grant a lot of grievances if the feelings which certain waters harbor are overwhelming. as it was stated, while neuvillette was looking into the fountain of lucine during her story quest, it is possible to lose hold and cause the memories of the water to overboil โ€” engulfing whoever else is in proximity and granting them a similar cinematic. after all, that was how the traveler was able to gauge neuvilletteโ€™s tragic experience involving vautrin and carole. however, it unveils the ability to engage in talking to animals & monsters alike, although it may not occur in the traditional sense. given she is not entirely human either, it should not strike as a grand surprise! in neuvilletteโ€™s teapot dialogue, she talks of how vishaps regressed in sight as they evolved, eventually unable to see color. it is likely that neuvillette may meet a similar fate, somewhere down the line โ€” bound to eventual colorblindness. neuvilletteโ€™s pupils are a white star-shape ; but, that light color quickly dilates and overwhelms her lilac irises upon experiencing fondness. her draconic features do not stop only at that : iโ€™ve concluded that the iudex is an odd concoction of being both warm-blooded and cold-blooded โ€” also known as exhibiting mesothermic traits. there is a theory that dinosaurs ( which are the real worldโ€™s equivalent of vishaps ) surmounted being able to regulate their body temperature to some extent, but not entirely. this would explain why she is of reptilian descent, but looks to avoid the sun. it is the reason neuvillette often uses her parasol while she is out (click here for the parasol design) ! all in all, neuvillette's powers as the fully fledged sovereign appear to be boundless when it involves her elemental assignment. the sky is the limit, truly. this being said, she is not keen on martial prowess when it comes to movements which disregard her usage of catalyst abilities. there has never been much use for her to use her body alone ; albeit, she possesses the physical strength of her ancestors. neuvillette weighs, and can carry, far more than she looks ! but, again, she is still getting used to manipulating her full powers, so it depends on her development how versatile she is.

neuvillette is transfeminine and doesnโ€™t have a preference for how she is addressed, but mainly goes by masc nouns. she struggled to grasp the concept of gender or orientation labels before being given explanations by lady furina ; ever since then, sheโ€™s accepted its significance in society wholeheartedly. admittedly, a lot of her draconic behaviors & sentiments parallel to autism, so do with that what you will. continuing on, the iudex is quite the unexpected hoarder. this includes an arrangement of seashells (specifically beryl & star conches ) and trinkets which she finds upon the ocean floor. As a matter of fact, she possesses collections ; seashells, assorted cups or chalices, and teabags from the duke that she cherishes & yet does not have the heart to spend. moreover, she keeps her favorite flowers close to her, and a good example of this are the potted plants which grace the palais mermonia : morning glories and blue poppies. These are only a few examples. many are artifacts of human telltales, too. another noteworthy capability she has is restoring formerly deceased sea beings ; dead coral or upturned fish have the capability of being replenished, depending on how long ago their lives have dimmed. Of course, this does only involve beings that have an inclination towards water, already. also, she is now in possession of her true dragon form, which i imagine looks a lot like the concept art from this tweet (click here) A stout frame accompanied by fins & flecks which accent a deep blue body, reflecting the waters she resides in. one could say it's akin to the lochness monster, also known as "nessie". she's intuitively depicted her draconic body in the form of a sculpted ladle. while some may speculate it is a light-hearted attempt at humor on hoyoverse's behalf, i believe that the appearance is plausible. such a sweet creature fits the likes of the gentle hydro sovereign, although mighty when times call for her to be. it is also worth noting that neuvillette maintains her humanoid form by pure choice, despite having full capability to shift into many different vessels (blubberbeasts, otters, or swans, to name a few). After all, as focalors noted, true justice is pursuing the human experience. That is precisely why neuvillette is the emblem of said justice. she works to integrate alongside & protect humanity, although she did not originally grasp it for herself. for a long time, she has rejected maintaining personal relationships, or closing the gap between people, in order to avoid suspicions that may inflict accusations of bias. however, it is worth noting that it is reasonable for her to begin to explore different dynamics with others. trust is an important philosophy to understand, and as her views on society & the world shift, so will her part as iudex. fontaine still harbors many dissatisfactory systems. in the past, neuvillette was often pushed to play as a sideline since furina was her authoritative figure. It was this way, even if neuvillette did much of the work in terms of regulating many industries of fontaineโ€™s government. now that this is not the case and she is the sole head of fontaine, it is up to her to shoulder reformations. i am keen on exploring these developments in her character when it comes to writing her in roleplay settings which allow for said circumstances to align.

personally, i favor neuvilletteโ€™s japanese voice actor (click to listen to kamiya hiroshi) for her portrayal. it is the perfect pitch of tenor, accompanied by a monumental softness and the gentle swing of her words encompasses the iudex perfectly. neuvillette often struggles to articulate herself, even more-so in the face of an emotional exchange. one can only imagine how shy she may grow at the thought of singing, but oh can she sing. i imagine it compares nicely to hoyoverseโ€™s commissioned piece of neuvillette singing an additional verse to โ€œla vaguetteโ€ (click to view]. indeed, neuvillette is a lover of theatrical prose and the performing arts โ€” when alone, she laments tunes and melodies she recalls. to be discovered during these fleeting moments would be most embarrassing. similarly, her penmanship is as eloquent and precise as her speech. view an example by clicking here. there is a firm hand to it with delicate intricacies, each letter interconnected with small curls. it is, indeed, standard cursive, aside from how closely the lines stack ; it is a most reasonable stylistic choice when the iudex is required to write and annotate many documents. the calligraphy is not the most legible at times, but it indicates the handiwork of someone well-written. every mark is consistent too, relevant to her schedule โ€” one can quickly determine where the chief justice may be so long as they know the time, it is like clockwork. while being the head of fontaineโ€™s overworld involves shouldering many burdens, she has fallen in love with the constant of it. even so, with her now being the renown ruler of fontaine, she is learning to integrate systems that will cherish time further โ€” allow her to enjoy leisure a bit more often, dispersing of the more ridiculous laws to prevent procuring as many trials. routine is comfortable, and she is not looking to allow easily preventable occurrences to overthrow her or her peopleโ€™s comfort. speaking of which, neuvillette is a keen man : able to read oneโ€™s handwriting and profile them. for example, she would be able to conclude their personality, endeavors, and whatever emotions they could have been feeling in that moment. grapho-emotional capabilities can often come in handy when it involves a line of work such as her own. on the other hand of penmanship, sheโ€™s still inclined to use her typewriter, too. the melusines harbor a culture of gifting one another strange parts or mechanical components, rooted in their origin from elynas. they have also gifted many to monsieur neuvillette, and are kept within one of the designated draws of her desk. yes, the iudex holds her desk and other bits of furniture in high regard. bring to point an article of a room and she will quickly make appreciation of it. this especially includes antique and unique furnitures which she will sometimes purchase from bertinโ€™s house of curiosities. this also includes bath appliances : if monsieur neuvillette is to ever fix you a bath, know that it shall be one to never forget โ€ฆ there are many elements which go into having the perfect tub or shower experience, including the soap, quality of water, and the cosmetic products which come with it. due to neuvilletteโ€™s particularly sensitive skin which easily dries out or flakes to invasive products, she creates her own soap and hair care products. furthermore, she has a knack for making perfumes and reveling in the scent from various candles. due to her senses being beyond that of a humanโ€™s โ€” smelling, tasting, hearing things differently, a similar dilemma as the melusines โ€” indulging in senses sheโ€™s come to enjoy has quickly become a cherished pastime. if meropide werenโ€™t such a dull place for her, due to knowing the grudges many residents hold, she would quite enjoy the place due to its fragrance of the sea. her hair reflects such a scent due to her affiliation with the ocean, a mixture of sea salt and french vanilla.

owning the archives โ€” a place where detailed files on all the cases in recent years are kept โ€” comes with its perks. over time, the library inspires her to invest in not only work-related pieces, but many more miscellaneous artifacts. it first started with the performing arts, and theater : the perfect insight on the human experience. indeed, neuvillette has many connections to the industry. the iudex has so much awareness that she manages the epicleseโ€™s repertoire by herself. it is true that the iudex is open to many subjects and topics. enghiene โ€” a melusine officer โ€” introduced her to โ€œfungus mechanicusโ€, solely because the fungi looked gummy and edible. this minigame of strategy appealed to the judge very much, though! sadly, she surmised that naming herself her true name on the leaderboard may cause an uproar & undesired social attention. especially, considering, neuvillette is amongst the top ten players in all of teyvat. this is when neuvillette came up with the username & dual pen name of โ€cygne nuitโ€, meaning : swan night. she made that specific selection, because her favorite classical composition is named after this title. music is significant to her, although few people know of the fact she plays the harp, alongside her singing & love for the gramophone. her harp, it is a gorgeous pedal harp, spine made of pure alabaster and white maple. how unlucky that this sight will forever be unseen to most people, tucked away in her room. furthermore, neuvillette enjoys rhythm games, and is equally as talented in it, though it took some practice due to her claws getting in the way of properly tapping the screen. of course, she still uses her secret alias on these platforms! likewise, the iudex is fond of reading the steambird. not only due to the fact it keeps her aware of current affairs, because she does not socialize so often, but because the crosswords and sudoku puzzles happen to be a lovely pastime. this devotion eventually led to her writing anonymous reviews on the paper as well โ€” again, under the name of cygne nuit. usually these writings are opinions on different antiques, newly released songs, and beverages. ribboning back to my point of theater being a wonderful way to connect and understand human emotion + customs, neuvillette found herself falling into a deep enjoyment of various other media : literature and movies, respectively. her favorite genres happen to be murder mysteries and romance. yes, you have heard me right, neuvillette is quite the romantic. although her forte involves possessing unbiased cognition, to her understanding, compassion and coming together is what will heal this world. these writings and films are a safe way to engage in her perceptions and introspection, as well as learn how to define her own emotions + regular social conventions. she aches to love & be loved, which is an ironic desire due to her self-instilled loneliness. no matter, the iudex cares for her people, more than anything else. but again, much of these feelings are gated behind a neutral expression. is it because neuvillette is particularly shy? no, not exactly. it is easy for her to be blunt and impartial, as that is her line of work. however, there have been many occasions in which sheโ€™s been prosecuted for conveying the wrong things at the wrong time, or keeping all of her feelings in her heart. the people of fontaine, their human livelihood, it is a mere reflection of neuvillette and what she is here to do. looking inward to improve and grasp herself is the very reason she took on this role of ordainer. hence, she has also begun to write in a diary. sigewinne mentioned it is a good way to start learning to articulate oneself. a fine way to further good penmanship, as well! one may find a few detailed portraits along the pages, as well. you may ask, portraits of who? and to that i say, whoever she may admire. neuvillette loves humanity, and appreciates many features which come with their diversity.

let me tell you an amusing story, about how fontaine seems to treat the higher order as if they are a royal family. people truly took a liking to monsieur neuvillette's light blue lashes โ€” the tips of them, at least. they are a feathery white, yet hued with the tint of teyvatโ€™s oceans. all of a sudden, there is an influx of colored eyelash extensions for the ends of the eyelids, and even people so much as dyeing their lashes ... all because people grew enamored with the way neuvillette did her " makeup " .... wanting to look like her, similar to how there were many fashion trends tailored to lady furina herself. after all, both furina && neuvillette have reached a level of stardom and celebrity status within fontaine, although neuvillette is far removed from society and catching onto this new " trend " involving herself is less likely, in comparison to furina who is always out and about. so, neuvillette does not know much or think much of this fad inspired by her until lady furina raises the point. one can only imagine the invisible heat that overtakes the iudex's face to know people find her eloquent enough to replicate and find inspiration from. she was always under the guise it was only ever furina they'd look to for stylistic choices ... seems that the both of them bear the emblem of aficionado in fashion, after all. with this in mind, it is safe to say that neuvillette appreciates aesthetics across the board. practicality is nice, yes, but beauty is worth involving in even the mundane things. neuvilletteโ€™s kitchen is not often utilized, as her desire to eat is different than that of humans. a single meal every few days is enough to sustain her. the iudexโ€™s primary source of nutrition is derived from water in of itself. this does not relieve her of the desire to decorate this kitchen and make it homely. as i said before, she loves her furniture, and she sure loves interior designing. within her cabinets, you will find icecube templates of various shapes : hearts, shells, butterflies, flowers, and she has recently added a shark mold for a certain & frequent visitor of hers. neuvillette possesses all kinds of mugs and chalices too, some which she personally commissioned from artisans or bought on her rare trips to the market. you may find one of many different colors and designs. as precise as neuvillette is in character, she is open to all kinds of beautiful. her things are rarely lost, because neuvillette keeps things in an organized & systemic fashion. this is a skill she quickly learned as the chief justice, overlooking a variety of cases and claims. however, on the off-chance she might lose track of something, neuvillette luckily has an ability that resonates with the echoing conches which you may find while exploring underwater. she can use echolocation to generate visible soundwaves, that detect unseen objects nearby. it parallels to how the melusines have keener and different senses than that of humans, leading them to notice things that the average detective may not. no wonder neuvillette served as the marechausse phantomโ€™s orchestrator, and it is a great feat when she investiages on a case by herself.

after a long day of work, neuvilletteโ€™s eyes might close only to realize she forgot to strew on that light blue & silk sleeping mask. very amusing that the iudex is unable to sleep properly if she goes without covering her eyes in a comfortable fashion! she also has a silk pillowcase and bedsheets to match. it is all so that her spindling & white locks do not spoil to fabrics or the weight of her own back. a thorough man, neuvillette is. her love language involves reminding people to tend to themselves in whatever ways they must. it is comically in character for neuvillette to be the one to remind the cherished ones around her to drink water, and she does exactly that. there is a great passion to be found in hydration, to her. neuvillette aspires to host another social event for the sake of introducing the nuances & wonders to water tasting. itโ€™s unfortunate that not even the traveler can relate to her sensitive palate. the first person to connect with her on this level will receive bountiful attention from her, yes. beneath the surface of a stoic demeanor is a woman who is quite attached to certain things. not only to the past, but to what she holds dear. this goes for people as well. you may find it surprising that i label neuvillette to have a disorganized attachment style, as she appears stable enough. i will counter that she has a habit of distancing herself and placing herself in isolation even in times which she can be helped. However, i theorize that her desire towards someone, especially in a romantic context, elicits the push & pull which is seen in fearful-avoidant behaviors. If you are looking for a hand to hold, unfortunately they are quite cold. But, neuvillette enjoys cooler temperatures, as seen by the fact she chose a date in winter to be her faux birthday. I headcanon her true birthday to be somewhere in early january. Ah, one final thing to add for this section, is that neuvilletteโ€™s hair can grow and warp to her liking. Yes, this means that she would be able to make an appearance with shorter or longer hair, if she so wishes. In private, sometimes she will draw back those locks of hair to make for an easier time, as they often get in the way of things, otherwise. But, neuvillette enjoys her appearance in terms of having longer hair, so that is how she likes to present in public. neuvillette exhibits persephone motifs, with the titles aligned with her character ( "eluesia" ) & the depiction of her in a wheat field. there is also an asphodel in her trailer, which is the flower of hades and persephone. now, i wonder who may be easily linked to hades? certainly not a certain duke... One more thing I will add is that Neuvillette possesses a beautiful bathing room within the Palais Mermonia. It is private, and no one wanders there save for if a guest is invited, or a retainer is cleaning and polishing. It is dappled with vibrant and warm waters, ornamented by rocks and waterfalls. This is her haven, which she has named The *Chambre de Bain de Perle ร‰lรฉgante. Quite a mouthful, and rather extravagant. But, in her opinion, that is exactly why it is deserving of such a title. click here for images of it that may serve as inspiration !

neuvillette actively uses a cane. it is because of her legs growing easily fatigued, all due to an experience in her former lifeโ€ฆ based off the linked reference, i was inspired to incorporate the idea of neuvillette having potentially been a play off the vishap mentioned โ€” theorized to be the former hydro sovereign, before it was slain by โ€œthe primordial oneโ€. on an extraordinary evening, a king orchestrated a lavish ball, the epitome of opulence. eager to partake, scylla assumed a human form, captivated by the resplendent royal splendor. however, the sovereign, still acclimating to his human vessel, inadvertently twisted his leg. the injury was so staple that it never left the dragon sovereign, even in its reincarnation as neuvillette. In my interpretation, i am also quite fond of the idea of wriolette having scylla and king remus motifs, except they are entirely different entities and mended of many past flaws. scylla, someone who struggled to grasp humanity, transpiring into a human vessel only to pursue the experience firsthand. then there is king remus, once governed by a great deal of arrogance, overcoming the concept of narcissism befalling his love for his own people in his next life โ€” a duke of humility. in contrast, a more modern teyvatan folktale, involving neuvillette, is to spew โ€œhydro dragon, hydro dragon, donโ€™t cry!โ€ in the face of a rainstorm. the character story from which this is derived notes : โ€œโ€what did they take said dragon for, some sort of bleeding heart who grieved for humans and the heavens alike?โ€ i would like to surmise that this is not literal, and is semi-irony. i say this because, while neuvillette possesses a compassionate soul, she cannot physically cry โ€˜nor dispel tears. any complicated swirl of emotions is what catalyzes a spew of droplets to descend from cloudy skies. this goes to say, it does not always imply she is sorrowful. but, showers of happiness have been quite rare, only until recentlyโ€ฆ it is said that the result of joyful rains are rainbows, which arch over the captivating buildings of fontaine. oh, another capability i would like to highlight is that neuvilletteโ€™s cells mimic the composition of water in a way that she can camouflage and shift into water itself. donโ€™t try to imagine her melting to a tiny puddle (yes itโ€™s possible). this is inspired by the pokemon, vaporeon, i should add. neuvilletteโ€™s tie to the hydro element does not only end with that appalling fact, however! pray for her lover, wriothesley, who may need to deal with many aquatic beings that flock to him โ€” recognizing him as their other guardian or parent. otters and fish find their way to the windows of meropide, serving as not only tokens of affection, but also protectors for the hydro sovereignโ€™s mate. being a figure so mighty yet imbued with humility is quite peculiar, no? the melusines often tab through horoscopes for astrological readings. unfortunately, as someone who was reborn to place judgment and challenge the order of our current world, neuvillette lacks a constellation. she is above whoever pulls the strings of fate, above, in celestia. on the other hand, the iudex does not have the heart to turn his sweet daughters away. hence, she would map stars that do not truly belong to her, to form a dragon. this array of stars will be called โ€œleviathan judicatorโ€. ah, she truly aligns with her role as the iudex.

๐–ฅ” these will not always apply to every roleplay and in no way are you obligated to oblige to these ideas, we can collaborate. i don't write wriolette as a ship outside of with the one which is linked. these are my personal interpretations involving the canonical content and what i have personally developed for my muse. if you think differently, that's fine! i understand that information can vary between other's perceptions & i am open to other compromises as well. this section exists for fun and for people to better grasp how i write my neuvillette in various dynamics. some excerpts may be longer or shorter depending on how much i have to go off from. not everyone will be on here, but i will try to update this when i can. again, please be kind and know that i am more than happy to tailor ideas to your muse, but i don't look to change the official document here.

furina

complicated sisterhood

she is his former superior. naturally, he will hold her in high perspective, even if there are many unspoken apologies involving his doubts on her. Furina and Neuvillette have not only led Fontaine side by side but also shouldered unspoken burdensโ€”judging those on the highest chairs without fully grasping the human experience. Despite being estranged from their people in distinct ways, they are gradually learning to accept love for their contributions. Things change, & people change. The two of them are not immune to such. Furina, having transcended her position, bears pure intentions. The Iudex silently sympathizes with her : how lonely she must have felt, dancing and lamenting until the very end. Neuvillette has always sensed there was more to her than meets the eye, that she entrapped a significant sentiment and buried it deep within herself. A devious yet altruistic facade Furina had sworn by! Although Neuvillette's regard for her was always sincere, she hopes to know Furina for who she is now, once Furina is ready to bridge the gap. Neuvillette even marks Furina's birthday as a national holiday, recognizing her as Fontaine's cherished former ruler. She is not an archon by technical means. Yet, Furina remains one in the hearts of many, all due to her sheer willpower and love for her people. Even after the curtain falls, Neuvillette wishes to keep an eye from a distance. Where Furina's shattered throne stood, the Iudex now takes the stage. The baton has been passed. Yes, it is very good that Furina has defined her own role as a Director. Finally, she seizes control of her own narrative, and Neuvillette could not be any happier for her. even if it appears that their paths have significantly diverged, and furina looks to be more independent of the iudex.

navia

caring towards, equally reluctant

it is through neuvillette's ties with callas which he had originally known of navia. for some reason, whenever she is near, it is as if cobwebs have intertwined themselves with his larynx. she is difficult to engage with, and it is not her own fault. although he has a great deal of respect and care towards her, there is a guilt which still overclouds him when they converse. however, who is to know what is going on within that draconic man's head, when his face puts the stoic nature of marble to shame ? even then, navia can sense his rocky nature, comparing it to that of a coral reef : so blunt in some aspects, but ambiguous in others. all in all, navia is one of the most prominent people in neuvillette's life, no matter their true proximity โ€” her perspectives have instilled a deeper desire to reform fontaine's systems. he knows that he could have done more for callas, but was unable to due to repenting silence. yet, such will change with navia. no longer will the iudex sit back and remain idle in a story of the people he is very much involved in. navia's capability to stand at the forefront and catalyze true action is something neuvillette admires and hopes to emulate in his leadership. perhaps, someday, the awkward barriers will fall and the two of them can come to realize that they are not all so different in their shared grievances, particular palates, and authoritative legacies. the sun and the ocean are fated to eventually cross face. it appears that navia may eventually open her heart to reconcilation, though neuvillette does not look to embed this kind of exchange. he vividly recalls that she denounced how he paralleled to her father, quiet in whatever he harbored in his heart. it is clear that she projected many of her emotions towards callas onto neuvillette. i feel that, if they were to ever grow close, they would have a mutual companionship. there is a bittersweetness to it, however, because it is an emblem of the closeness she was unable to achieve with her father. nonetheless, there would be many things to appreciate in terms of their insightful interactions.

wriothesley

dear lover, carrd link

where to begin with the duke? if people were spring water, his flavor profile would be nothing short of unique. he is the only person whom neuvillette has claimed to have a "personal relationship" with. there is a subtle layer of cynicism laced into neuvillette's perspective on people. her heart is gated by grand walls and eloquent chains. yet, she praises wriothesley and his trustworthiness to no end. others may describe him as someone to be cautious with, since he can exert a silver tongue if need be. even clorinde mentions that if anyone were to be able to understand his motives, it would be monsieur neuvillette. perhaps, this is because of their intimacy which Transcends any regular professional or friendly realm. never did neuvillette believe she could find so much comfort in a mortal of the underworld. was it fate for the entrance to the fortress to be nestled behind the opera epiclese? what is this feeling stirring inside her, deeper than she ever believed she could feel? a desire and revering joy for his accomplishments, so much that it can rival wriothesley himself. a clear comfortability clings to the air, whenever they speak. during times which people surround them, it is as if they are the only ones in the room. this declaration of love does not need to be spoken aloud, however. no matter if monsieur can learn to articulate what it is, or not, she knows it breeds exclusivity between them. wriothesley is neuvillette's haven, the one person she may be able to rely on, when everyone else is relying on her. the iudex's dearest confidant & lover. their confessions are wordless. it is sewn into how they share the same interest in books and gramophones. the tea bags & teasing letters of resignation that are laced with love notes. swans, with the hues of them, that furl around one another's necks and make abodes by the horsetail. wriothesley wishes to devote his life to her, he says... amusing that neuvillette is the one to tie the string, allowing her heart to become his. their lifespans shall sync, as they do when vishaps claim a mate. she longs to grow old with him. soulmates, they must be real, with what they have. they are one another's first and only loves.

clorinde

coworker, well-acquainted

the marechausse phantom is a token contributor to fontaine, for over the course of decades โ€” if not centuries. the hunters safeguarded fontaine with wit and arrow. neuvillette harbors much acknowledgement towards this, and he is grateful to have clorinde's aid on the side of the detective & court units. naturally, they have gotten to know each other at surface-level, given that they work in tandem. neuvillette is well aware of the dilemmas which certain duties can place upon someone. this is seen through how they both were tied to callas' unfortunate fate, and how they would respond to knowing they played a role in it. even if it was not intentional, they both swore to make something out of it. for clorinde, it means seeing to navia's safety. for neuvillette, that would be reforming the court so that this does not repeat. it appears that they both shoulder guilt and heavy weights from their responsibilities. after all, being the one to leave those who refute their trials slain is only an easy feat for someone with a wicked heart. neuvillette is good at sensing intention, and within her is an authentic soul. he grew rather shy but accepting when she referred to him as her boss, as he had a habit of viewing them to be on equal footing. clorinde has always been the kind of person to get the job done in one way or another, and the iudex can come to admire this efficiency. as of now, they are not terribly close, but he can surmise a sensitivity, from what is assumed to be a cold gaze from others. perhaps, they have more in common than one may think. their lineage has led them to their current roles in society which they gracefully bear. but, there are elements in their line of work which they are still learning to manage. who knows? they may make for good companions in the future.

sigewinne

greatly cherished

the melusines all strike a particular chord in the hydro dragon's heart. it appears that sigewinne is no exception, though she is one of the melusines closest to neuvillette. before the iudex was fully established in his so-called glory and admiration by the people of fontaine, it was the melusines who looked out for him. monsieur cares for sigewinne not simply because he aspires to return this favor, but because sigewinne is family to him. ask neuvillette of her, and he radiates a protective aura. certainly, monsieur worries for sigewinne, given she remains in the depths of meropide. however, he entrusted her with the role of nurse, because her capabilities exceed many, and there is a deep trust. monsieur thinks of her often, appreciating how she looks to tend to his health, although he does not look to concern her. if anyone is to see through the iudex's stoicism, however, it would be sigewinne. there is a mutual sentiment in terms of looking out for one another, and that is what is so sweet about their bond. neuvillette and her also share a similar sense of taste, so he often finds himself craving the milkshakes and meals she may make. it is quite amusing, people will watch the two of them, appalled at their preference in dish & beverage. little may they know that the hydro sovereign sees himself in her and her sisters, because they share many traits which only they can both relate to. yes, that includes their palate and how they experience the senses. whenever sigewinne is to make a trip to the palais, neuvillette's quick to clear his schedule, just for her. you may even see the iudex's silvery locks ornamented with sigewinne's signature bows. she is one of the only few people he shall allow to touch his hair. She is one of the only few he's ever allowed himself to grow so close to.

lyney and lynette

looking out for them

each show & without fail, the iudex would take her seat in the front row of the opera house. it is no secret that monsieur has a deep love for the performing arts. this is not only because it is the quintessence of entertainment, but because it allows her to indulge in imagination. magic shows are a respite from the grave trials conducted in the very same building. there are times in which neuvillette would settle in her high chair, overseeing the audience, and have a need to ground herself in the purpose of why she is here in this particular moment. animals do not look to shit where they sleep, and yet the epiclese served as such a peculiar duality. neuvillette can't help but silently note that they could learn a thing or two from said animals. something never felt right or all that authentic, displaying the court as an exhibit for dramatics. the only comforting inauthenticity happened to be lyney and lynette's shows. she was forever one of the first to rise and encourage a standing ovation. it was disheartening to have to sit in her high chair, once more, and unravel an accusation of murder. again, neuvillette is blessed with an intuition towards what kind of person which someone may be. she had never deliberated whether the acting ever ensued off-stage. it was even more slighting to find out that one of their performances was a ploy to observe the oratrice, and its process of indemnitium. nevertheless, lyney & lynette were eventually proven innocent, and most suspicions could be laid to rest. neuvillette had eventually been made aware of the hearth's affiliations tying into arlecchino's intents, anyway. if there is a common goal to extricate fontaine from the prophecy, so be it. neuvillette has always had a soft spot for the underdogs, and the children of the hearth are precisely that. she only hopes that they will be able to lead peaceful lives, safe and sound. she keeps her distance, unsure if the court case could have placed a few resentments between them. but, even with their meddlings in meropide, she considers them contributors to the nation's preservation.

the diver has strung himself up into quite an amusing circumstance, one which he may have considered a gaffe. after all, his anxieties churned and left him in a suspicious-appearing light. he panicked when witnessing the iudex gazing longingly at the shore, doused in droplets. something must have made him feel that this was a moment not to be infringed upon. after all, isn't it an odd thing for someone to willingly do? she had no umbrella, but... ah, nevermind that. freminet must have worried that neuvillette shall prosecute him, but she is simply not like that. without evidence or reason for ill-fated intuition, she does not execute anything which may be unnecessary. monsieur is well-versed in understanding the intent woven into other's hearts. indeed, she found it all rather Awkward, but who is she to judge anyone for this? that would be the equivalent of shattering a mirror. the child and her share many similarities, despite their reservations towards one another. freminet finds solace and serenity in the depths of the ocean, where he does not need to deal with the weight of social affairs or impeding sounds. neuvillette aches to submerge herself in these waters, yet is bound to land by her duty and conflicting desire to blend in with the people. if anything, neuvillette is glad for freminet. everyone must eventually surmise a duty or beloved activity that will help them to maintain an emotional equilibrium. neuvillette has found that human emotions are rather fragile, even in the most resilient of cases. she also finds his penguin contraption quite cute, having a soft spot for marine creatures. similar to other children of the hearth, neuvillette wishes to look out for him. wriothesley has summarized much of freminet's near demise, involving the primordial water. she holds her tongue in terms of asking him if he is alright, because she is not sure if he holds any resentment or disdain towards her. she is the one who overseed his siblings' trial, after all.

charlotte

first interviewer, exasperating

yes, neuvillette is impassioned by reading the steambird's columns, and enjoying assortments of activities on the back pages. that does not mean he has ever had any interest in being the main attraction of said writings. he may find sir arthur to be an amusing conversationalist, as he has always gotten along easier with those that are not human. it is the regular interviewers who may strew their cameras and microphones to his face that leave a bad taste in his mouth. no, it is not the rumors which ruffle the feathers of his lashes. as a matter of fact, the iudex has learned to derive amusement from the asinine assumptions the people have conjured, over time. a male melusine? a demon? an emblem of calamity? what leaves her avoidant is the fact that it infringes on her leisure for the sake of gossip. furthermore, if a column were to reveal just the right information, it may transpire into unneeded excitement and uproar. this is why he does not look to entertain any inquiries or interviews. every journalist, thus far, has given up on persuading him. every journalist, save for miss charlotte. it is this fervor which garnered the attention of neuvillette. after all, it was inevitable for him to be the one to identify strong will. yet, it's not a hydro vision which he would grant in return. neuvillette finally agrees to an interview. the lengths which charlotte goes to for her craft are both honorable and appalling, but neuvillette senses the love which radiates from her craft. hence, he wrote in a day for the next month for them to speak. what shall become of them, afterwards? who knows? though, he has considered commissioning her for a few photographs of the melusines to frame in the palais...

the fatui

cautious, political dynamic

only one bred from ignorance would deny the fatui's influence across the seven nations of teyvat, and perhaps... even beyond that much. she is well aware of the fatui soldiers & diplomats that dwell amongst mondstadt and liyue, respectfully. while fontaine opens its borders to anyone who shan't impose mal-intent, neuvillette is weary of the fatui. she does not write them off as irredeemably maleficent, however, certain figures draw out a pit in her stomach. it does not show, given her neutral expression that irrecusably remains, but she is aware they are not to be Trifled with. it isn't a case of neuvillette being unable to handle them through sheer force, rather, their mind games would compromise people outside of her. this is precisely why she chose to hand over the gnosis as a display of " allyship ". she is not ill-informed of the fact that this may eventually become the byproduct of a scheme, but something inside of the iudex tells her that it is just not yet time to ensue a fracas. at the end of the day, strained relationships in a politic dynamic or two are bound to exist. as long as it poses no threat to fontaine now or in the future, she shall do what she must to maintain the ties. besides, maintaining their favor may be the best alignment in order to have a potential grasp on their downfall, if necessary. this being said, there are some figures neuvillette experiences a deep sympathy for. the children of the hearth are a good example of such. the 11th harbinger is also a notable figure, having been unfairly sentenced by the oratrice. even if it was a matter of fate so that tartaglia may fight the narwhal, she remained disappointed in herself for her lack of foresight. it would also be imprudent to disregard his contribution to fontaine's wellness. he had fought the all-devouring narwhal for roughly a month, without succumbing. surely it had taken a toll on his body, no? unfortunately, neuvillette was never able to grant her apologies and thanks in person, so she has sent them with arlecchino, also requesting updates on tartaglia's recovery.

celestia and the archons

must challenge & judge

so, it is true. the iudex was reincarnated from the original hydro sovereign, all so she can place judgement upon the rulers of teyvat and its overseers? hah. to be presented with such a duty, it is quite a lot to stomach. however, neuvillette is a man of her word, who shall do as she must, especially if it is for the sake of teyvat's people & her predecessors. having come to love humanity, the judgements she makes will surely exhibit compassionate values which her counterparts, all of whom lack a forever human vessel, may fall short with. maybe that is why neuvillette descended not as a draconic form, but as human? because the most righteous judicator could only stem from someone who understands both divinity & mortals alike. others may figure that there shall be inevitable physical altercations, however, this is not inherently true. firstly, the iudex is someone who doesn't look to find violence necessary. also, the archons are only extensions of celestia, and some of them may as well be victims to their godhood, within their own right. erosion is allegedly connected to the heavens above, after all, though we are not sure if this is so true. either way, it is worth saying that neuvillette doesn't look to be crude in her verdicts, they shall be performed graciously with an attempt to gain all angles. indeed, this is a complex and layered trial. it is one that shall take time to properly conduct. how she had overseen justice in fontaine, and learned to grow sure in her own final conclusions ... was this all preparation for her to make the final pronouncements? neuvillette has already met focalors, who cast her very own verdict. monsieur can only ponder the reactions of the others. her opinions vary on them, and they're subject to change. but, if they are anything like the former hydro archon, who gave up everything for her people, then ... might there be room for a gentler sentence? to be clear, neuvillette will not necessarily agree or forgive many actions conducted by the archons. however, she acknowledges that people will sometimes do as they must, if they think it is best for themselves or their loves ones.

those of the past

deceased, ever-changing feelings

there is no doubt that neuvillette has endured a long life, even if for only half a millenia. within that timeframe, she has witnessed countless losses. some of them were a product of fate and cruelty. others were due to her own shortcomings. they all still inflict twists and turns of vivid, painful emotions. yet, some pleasant ones as well. she recalls witnessing the development of recon log meks, conducted by alain gullotine. it was a sweet creature, wagging its tail with a playful sentience. she sees a semblance of the researcher in every mechanical canine facet. her long-drawn conversations with callas flood her memories as she walks by one of the courtyards, east of the epiclese. ah, how much they could relate to one another. furthermore, how could neuvillette only allow soiled grievance to taint her recollection of carole and vautrin? resilient and fiery spirits, they were, and the two of them shall continue to burn brightly in her memory. neuvillette forgets herself when she has flashbacks to the fall of such valuable people. so much capability, yet she was unable to save 'nor prevent what mattered. all she can do now is learn from the mishaps and embrace their legacies. focalors' finale was arguably one of the most heart-wrenching witnesses of all, as there were barely any memories of the true her. all neuvillette knew of her was altruistic deception, at the cost of decapitation. monsieur is a sensitive being. after all of these years, even with everything she has seen, she shall never become jaded. the loss of them must continue to mean something. although some may call it irrational & self-invoked torment, neuvillette's grief is a tribute to them. dark clouds will paint the sky on anniversaries, coronations, significant dates, or strikes of sorrow. yet, hues of all colors in the form of arching rainbows will adorn the heavens, soon after. it is all that neuvillette can gift to them, now. so, this is what she shall do.

verses

the harpist

alternate verse

the iudex ( stage name ) is renown for a plethora of things, that of which include her outstanding appearance โ€” a pearl gifted to her by draconic origin , in her past life. the blessing of water is imbued in striking lilac sights, an even yet dark complexion, and wispy white locks that cascade to her ankles when undone. it only makes sense for neuvillette to serve as a model, even if she is averted from the public's gaze. what is worth noting is that she was only scouted by a modeling agency after becoming a phenomenal harpist. neuvillette's works drew in a worldwide audience, reviving the interest in this instrument that is now considered niche. accompanied by her soft vocals, it is only fair that she proved to be so alluring. paired with feathery white lashes that seem unfocused on anything outside of gentle strings, many may assume that she's nothing short of a siren. but, no. neuvillette is just a person. so, how silly is that ?

soul eater

alternate verse

neuvillette serves as a weapon โ€” a chain of silver and blue hues , to be exact. perhaps it is her niche class which deterred people from selecting her for so long.ย despite being a demon she lacks the usual malevolent demeanor of a weapon embedded with a "human" soul. people seldom decided on her , musing that it is asinine to believe she could have much use. what may a chain do that a katana , chainsaw , or gun could not do even better ? even if the rare meister came by to pursue a bond , never were the trials a success in terms of compatibility. this is most likely given that not only is neuvillette awkward , but because she does not possess the wild and blood-hungry nature that many strive to be accompanied by. to them , that is what true strength is โ€” brute desire and force. quite the opposite of neuvillette. she eventually accepted that she may never connect with a single meister, after a plethora of failures. thus , she chose to find a haven in seclusion until one faithful day , wriothesley happened to stumble upon her โ€” idling by a pond ornamented with saccharine lotuses. it appears that they were who one another had been seeking this entire time. two beings who could not form a single note of intimacy gradually felt their hearts intertwine.

university

alternate verse

neuvillette happens to be younger than one may expect in this verse, solely because i thought it would be fun to explore her in a student role. after all, within canonverse, she spent much of her time learning rather than teaching, save for raising the melusines. even then, they taught her equally as much. so, i didn't feel like going the mentor route. currently, she serves as a film major โ€” belonging to the college of liberal arts. the hydro dragon always struggled to adeptly navigate the complexities of emotions and interpersonal dynamics. stories that were both fictional & non-fictional helped neuvillette to wrap her head around not what only others felt, but what she felt... now, she spends her time writing scripts for plays and movies, hoping that one day these projected dreams may find the screens and stage. she is a second year, having joined the college later than most. before this, neuvillette spent much of her time as a bookshop worker โ€” recommending and discussing literature with guests, as well as organizing old records and movie DVD's. perhaps, it is this that kindled the revelation that she wanted to be a creator of these things, too. what is more human than creating art, after all?
